What to Do Before Our Water Damage Experts Arrive
If you've had a plumbing emergency, turn off the water. If your pipes have burst or are frozen, turn it off at the street as well as inside the house.
- Turn off the circuit breaker(s) to the affected room(s).
- Don't turn on TVs, computers or other appliances.
- Pick up anything you can. Don't leave wet books or magazines on floors or carpet.
- Wipe down wooden furniture.
- Remove wet upholstered cushions.
- Put furniture up on wooden blocks or at least slip aluminum foil between the legs and carpet to prevent staining it.
- Pin up draperies.
- Turn on air conditioning for faster drying.
- Remove colored area rugs from wet carpeting.
